Skylark If pain must come, may it come quickly. Because I have a life to live, and I need to live it in the best way possible. If he has to make a choice, may he make it now. Then I will either wait for him or forget him. general info
APPEARANCE
Brown tabby isn't the most unique pelt color. Of course, not every cat can be black, white, or have some special marking, can they? Sometimes being average in coat isn't so bad. It helps you to blend in. Keeps you unnoticed and lets you go about your business in peace. Skylark doesn't dislike her coat, with its soft brown coloring and dark black stripes, not that she often thinks about it. Her fur is soft, roughly medium length. Neither short nor long, but leaning towards the latter. Her muzzle and underbelly are white, and the tip of her tail and toes share the pale color. Just inward of her right eye is a long strip of ginger, just barely noticeable. Her eyes. Those are by far her most striking feature. They're deep and beautiful, their color as rich as liquid gold. There really isn't even another color to describe it. Metallic and textured, yet with something else hidden underneath. Such unique eyes draw the gaze of others with ease, and while her coat and size may be nothing special her eyes certainly are. She often communicates using her eyes as opposed to words, sometimes without even realizing it. They're very expressive, and sometimes even show her emotions without her meaning to. Skylark's build is average though, just as her coat color. Her build is compact and agile, great for climbing and hunting. Her paws are compact and solid as well, and she'll be both a fine hunter and fighter some day. Her pawpads are a soft pink, and her nose is dark brown with a hint of rose. Her whiskers are long and feathery, and their bases are quite dark- almost like freckles. personality
The first thing that you need to know about Skylark is that she does not want to rely on you. Nothing good comes of it. Her grandmother relied on her mate, and her death lead to pain. Her own mother relied on her own mate and trusted him, which lead to pain as well. Growing up in a broken forest filled with traitors, liars, and cats who are all but what they seem, Skylark will be one of the few who know from birth not to let yourself trust so easily. There's something deep in the pit of her heart that knows that that's the easiest way to be hurt. She will be guarded, not letting others into her walls quite so easy. Even to the point of being antisocial. She takes care of herself, and those she loves. And the list of those she loves is hard to get on. She could even be called antisocial. She's not rude, but she can be rather blunt. Skylark isn't the most socially apt, you see. If she wants to say something then she'll say it. She'll think on it in advance however. Yes, though she may be blunt at times Skylark is very thoughtful. She takes a long time to plan things out, even going so far as to have long pauses in her sentances where she plans what to say next. She doesn't speak without thought, and always decides on her actions in advance. She's quite a good planner, even if she can be a bit forgetful at times.. Yes, she doesn't have the best memory. Its very easy for her to forget things, from what she had for breakfast that morning to the names of cats she's just met. If you want her to remember you, you'll have to do something to make her remember you. She doesn't hold on to information that she doesn't need, and that includes cats. Its not out of rudeness, its just her mind's way of cleansing itself. Or perhaps a defense mechanism. Joking isn't something that Skylark often does. This isn't to say that she doesn't have a sense of humor, she just doesn't use it often. It isn't her thing. She has a rather serious personality. Skylark is very independent, self sufficient, and free spirited. Taking care of herself and not relying on others is important to her. She likes to spend plenty of time alone, and will begin learning to hunt and fight as early as possible. The sooner she can take care of herself the better. It isn't that she hates the help of others, its just better for her this way. Being alone is good for her. It gives her time to think, and she likes to be by herself with nothing but the company of the trees and the moon. Nighttime is her favorite time of day, and she can often be found out and about walking under the starry sky. Night walks are a favorite thing of hers. If it was up to her, she would be fully nocturnal. Speaking of night, Skylark is certainly not a morning person. She hates bright sunlight and getting up early, and much prefers the comfort of dusk and the dull light of the setting sun. She has a very sleepy personality, especially in the mornings. She falls asleep very easily, and often in the worst places. Don't be surprised if she nods off mid conversation! Its hard to become close with her, but once you do it is very much worth it. She isn't overly affectionate or incredibly passionate, but her love runs deep. If you become her friend, family, or love, she will never betray you unless you do so first. She is undyingly loyal to those who spare the same courtesy, and wouldn't even consider harming one she cares for at the prospect of personal gain. She loves deep, and she loves fiercely. She may not show it, or even know it herself. But her heart is a true one. If you wrong her, she will not forgive you. Her walls are a one way street. If you enter the kingdom and betray the queen, you will be sent into exile. There is no hope for forgiveness. She does not hold on to things she doesn't need, and broken hearts are one of those things. It's hard to get her to lift the gates, but if they are lifted for you you are among the few that she actually cares for. If you abuse her affections, she will lock you out and throw away the key. Perhaps another defense mechanism. Its easier for her to toss out cracked mirrors than to try to piece them back together.
HISTORY Skylark will be born to Autumn, along with her brothers Finch and Tornado. “Life has a way of going in circles. Ideally, it would be a straight path forward––we'd always know where we were going, we'd always be able to move on and leave everything else behind. There would be nothing but the present and the future. Instead, we always find ourselves where we started. When we try to move ahead, we end up taking a step back. We carry everything with us, the weight exhausting us until we want to collapse and give up. We forget things we try to remember. We remember things we'd rather forget. The most frightening thing about memory is that it leaves no choice. It has mastered an incomprehensible art of forgetting. It erases, it smudges, it fills in blank spaces with details that don't exist. But however we remember it––or choose to remember it––the past is the foundation that holds our lives in place. Without its support, we'd have nothing for guidance. We spend so much time focused on what lies ahead, when what has fallen behind is just as important. What defines us isn't where we're going, but where we've been. Although there are places and people we will never see again, and although we move on and let them go, they remain a part of who we are. There are things that will never change, things we will carry along with us always. But as we venture into the murky future, we must find our strength by learning to leave things behind.” . ♪ THREAD TRACKER This section is not necessary, but is provided if a member wishes to keep track of the threads that this character participates in. | ooc info ☆ NAME☆ Maple ☆ OTHER CHARACTERS☆ Autumn Finch Tornado |
