Autumn It's a most distressing affliction to have a sentimental heart and a skeptical mind. general info
APPEARANCE
Autumn is a beautiful she-cat. She has soft, feathery calico fur which is midway between short and long. At the base its white, and throughout it are splashes of light golden, black, and even a few tabby patches here and there. Its usually silky to the touch, as she generally likes to keep her coat clean and soft. Not out of appearances, but just because it feels nicer. She has even facial structure, and is quite a symmetrical she-cat save for the patches on her coat. Her build is average, if a bit on the smaller side, and her build is average as well. Overall she's a normally built, attractive she-cat. She seems perfectly usual, until you look at her face at least. No matter which catches your eye first, it's likely to catch interest. Her eyes are beautiful. Deep and metallic, like liquid copper or gold. They're thoughtful and bright, as if kissed by the sun. Its easy to get distracted by them. She often shows her inner thoughts quite easily in those golden gems. The other thing which might catch your eye is the long slash which stresses from one cheek to the other. When she first comes to the mountains, the wound will be fresh. But over time it will never fade, always serving as a dark reminder for her not to trust others so easily. personality
Autumn is a thoughtful she-cat, quiet and generally introverted. She doesn't go out of her way to find romance or adventure, and she just wants to live her life surrounded by cats that she cares about. Despite being introverted, she does like large groups of cats. They make her feel wanted. At home. Safe. She was raised in one, and if she had a choice she would die in one. But for now, she lives on her own. Well, along with her unborn kits. She dislikes being alone. Be it with her group as a kit, or with her mother and sisters as a young adult, or even with her ex-mate just one moon ago, she feels the need to be surrounded by others. She's quiet, and may not speak much, but its just.. comforting to her. Knowing that somebody has your back, and there are cats who care for you and you can trust no matter what. Trust and love mean the world to her. She's very sentimental, and has quite a good memory. She'll remember the first meal she shared with someone, their favorite season, and small details very easily. Often she looks back on such things and smiles. Having such a good memory has its perks. She's able to recall very minor things, and this can be quite useful in certain situations. Being sentimental however, she takes negative acts and betrayal by those she cares for very seriously. She isn't quick to forgive, and hurting her would be quite the mistake. She dwells on such things for a long, long time. It's hard to earn back her favor after wounding her, be it emotionally, physically, or both. Despite her quietness, she can be a playful she-cat. She may not play pranks, but she can definitely enjoy a good laugh when its given. This comes from having two very playful, very friendly sisters. Autumn can be rather wishy washy. She often isn't sure about what exactly it is that she wants. And often by the time she's made her decision, its too late. She has a hard time deciding on things, and much prefers for others to either make decisions for her or for there not to be decisions at all. She would rather live in the trunk of a tree than its branches, so to speak. Too many different decisions leads to too many chances for failure. She has good common sense and is very sensible and intelligent when it gets down to it, she just has a hard time making decisions. Due to how her last (and only serious) relationship ended, she may be skeptical of relationships in the future. She doesn't plan to enter one soon, and will be nervous of the prospect in the future (if she ever decides to take on a mate again- which she would like to, she's just... unsure. She is very confused about many things right now.) She is skeptical of others at first because of said relationship. She learned the hard way that cats might not always be how they seem. But once you get to know her and she you, she will love as fiercely as the colors of the season for which she was named. She won't trust easily, despite wanting to. As stated previously, be it in friendship or romance she has learned not to let others into her life as easily as she had previously. She loves others, and she loves the company of others. But letting them in will be.. difficult.
HISTORY Ever since birth, Autumn has been loved. Loved by her siblings, loved by her mothers, love by her grandmother and grandfather and the rest of the cats in their small, ragtag gang. She has the sort of disposition which, despite her occasional awkwardness, draws others to her. She was born on a beautiful summer morning evening to two she-cats by the names of Jamie (A beautiful golden she-cat), and Butterfly (A fierce and lanky but loving tortoiseshell). Three daughters, the two mates had. There was exciteable and sweet Spring, a pale golden and white she-cat who always had a way of brightening other's days. She was the youngest. Then there was fierce and brave Summer, the one who would protect her family no matter the cost and have a smile on her face while doing so. The oldest. And Autumn herself, well she was the middle kit. Quiet, distant, but surprisingly warm Autumn. Their home was a strong, safe one, and Autumn was brought into this world knowing that things would be alright. Her grandparents, two cats very much in love by the names of Jay and Ladybug, had formed an odd sort of group before her birth. Several cats, their histories ranging from short to long, fierce to sweet, all lived together. She was brought up in a kind environment, becoming social at an early age despite her quietness. She was close with her siblings, as well as her grandparents who taught her to hunt and fight along with her mothers. All was peaceful for quite some time. It wasn't long after her mother's had given birth to two new kits- Tree and Sun- that came a night that Autumn would never forget. The great earth shaking. The whole world seemed to break apart, trees toppeling and cats yowling for their lives. On that night, many in their group became lost. Others lost their lives. Jamie, Tree, and Sun were among them. Butterfly was heartbroken. She couldn't bear to stay in this place any longer, and fled the land along with her daughters. Their grandparents had survived, yet they left them behind as well. Autumn didn't know where their family was going, but she was very distraught. Losing ones family, home, and everything that they had ever known would do that to a cat. The four took up a life of roaming. Never settling down, never getting attached. It was hard on all of them. Spring so longed to make friends, and Summer wished for their now distant mother's health to return. Autumn? She just wanted stability. Her once comfortable and happy life had been ripped away, leaving a void in its place. The already quiet she-cat became even more withdrawn, seldom speaking and even more seldom actually conversing. Things went on like this for some time, and Autumn and her siblings grew. Before long, they had reached their 16th moon, and Butterfly deemed it time to settle. Their mother had grown tired, her once fiery temper and fierce heart dampened by the constant traveling and the loss of her mate. She and Jamie had been very much in love, any cat within ten miles could have seen that. Losing her, as well as two kits, had been a massive blow to the she-cat. When the four settled, it was at least in a beautiful place. A small, abandoned badger set near the edge of a river. Farmlands surrounded the river for miles, golden fields of grain moving in the breeze like liquid sunlight. And so, after so long of traveling, life grew peaceful once more. Butterfly began to recover. Spring took on a mate. Summer's laugh returned. And Autumn, well she began to smile again. To talk more. Life was good. Time passed, and Autumn met a tom. He was massive, thick white fur splattered with black and gray like berries on snow. His voice was smooth as silk, and eyes kind. He was warm, and his name was Shade. He and Autumn met by the river, far downstream from her home. Immediately he'd told her how beautiful she was, and Autumn had been taken aback. Yes, she'd exchanged sweet words with other she-cats before (or rather she-cats to her on her travels, as she wasn't often in an emotional state where she could have recopricated much), but never before had a tom said such things to her before. He was rather handsome, and seemed to be kind. He caught her a fish, and asked her to walk with him. She accepted. She began to spend more time with the tom. It was clear from the moment that they met that he was interested in her, but Autumn was unsure of how much she recopricated his feelings. Yes, he was handsome and kind, but.. She didn't quite feel that draw to him. The draw that she had seen between her parents, and her grandparents before them. Still, she hoped that it would eventually come. When she fell pregnant, that feeling still hadn't come. The tom was ecstatic, talking on and on about how he knew a wonderful place out west that would be fantastic to raise kits. Spring and Summer were happy for her, and Butterfly (while wary) was protective and congratulatory. An uneasy feeling began to build within Autumn however. Was she ready? Did she even love this tom? She cared about him, yes, but there was still no fire. Before long she agreed to travel west with him to raise their kits. She would miss her family, and they would miss her. Autumn often wondered if she had made the right decision. It was a small place within view of the mountains. Autumn worried that it would be dangerous for the kits, what with the dangerous predators that the mountains could hold, but Shade assured her that he could fight off any dangers that they could face here. Plus, he had friends in the area. Autumn accepted that, and they took up their new life here. But what peace there was to be found in the mountains was shortlived. Three fourths of the way through her pregnancy, Autumn decided that she had to tell him. She couldn't live in a lie, and she had to let him know the truth. On a cloudy morning, she told him that she didn't love him. She wanted to remain friends, yes. Even if she didn't love him as a mate, she loved him dearly as a friend and wanted to stay that way. They could even continue to live together, and he help her raise the kits. But this revelation brought something out in Shade- something which she had not seen before in any cat. Fury. Pure, unadulterated fury. His eyes grew dark, and Autumn would never forget the sight. His once green eyes were black as night, his fur standing on end. He looked more like a creature of darkness than a cat in that moment. Stricken with fear, Autumn couldn't move as he lashed out, slashing her across the face and leaving a wound that would stay with her for the rest of her life. At the scent of blood, Autumn came to her senses and fled, not once looking back. She ran deeper into the mountains, not thinking of where she was going or what dangers may lay ahead, only the danger that could- for all she knew- still be right behind her. For hours she ran, until her legs could carry her no more. When she finally stopped, she was in an unfamiliar forest, surrounded by unfamiliar scents. Sundown was nearing, and she had no idea where she was or where to go. All that she knew was that she couldn't go back. .
