Snowstorm stretched walking out of the warriors den as the sun shone brightly. He had organized the dawn patrol last night so he could get a little extra sleep. he had been running himself on overtime since his brother has become basically useless while no one can understand him, so Snowstorm picked up the slack as best as he could, doing whatever he could to help out around the camp. Today, however, he needed to make it a priority to spend some time with his apprentice, so he made his way over to the Fresh-kill pile and grabbed a small mouse to eat before he went to find Cedarpaw. Snowstorm's stomach hurt from him not eating regularly anymore. Granted he never had much of a regular schedule, but now that he NOTICED he didn't have a regular schedule, it became more and more painful to ignore. Quickly finishing the mouse Snowstorm rushed over towards the apprentice den and poked his head inside to see if his apprentice was still asleep.
Hey, Cedarpaw. We have to catch up on your training, you feel like practicing your fighting?"

Cedarpaw looked up from his nest. He had been awake for some time now, but he hadn't felt like getting out of his nest. It was so comfortable and warm after all. Why would he want to leave? But now his mentor, the deputy of the clan, was here. And he wanted to train. Did he want to practice fighting? Not at the moment. But he wasn't about to say that to Snowstorm.
So instead, he got to his paws and stretched before exiting the den. He shook out his short tabby and white fur as he looked around. Darn, Patchpaw wasn't around for him to flirt with. Maybe when he got back. After all, he could impress her with his skill. Right? If not, he could always impress Silverheart, right? She was a bit older than him, but she was pretty.
He looked back at Snowstorm, having forgotten he was there. "Well, lets get to it, then. Nothing to do around here at the moment anyways. At least, nothing fun to do."

Snowstorm watched his Apprentice stand up and look around the den for Patchpaw. She was doing her duties like a warriors, Snowstorm laughed inwardly at the thought, he was stuck with the lazy apprentice. But he wouldn't say anything, instead he smiled and turned to head off into the 'forest'. Glancing back only as Cedarpaw finished speaking to comment.
"Oh now, that's not true at all, you can have plenty of fun in the camp..."
Snowstorm waited until he was a far enough distance away from the camp to speak again
"Messing with Duskblaze is usually a pretty good way of killing time, though probably not something you could get away with..... Easily."
Snowstorm made his way slowly through the open forest, looking for a nice open area for them to train, stopping in between two trees just outside of a view of one of the rivers. The floor wasn't as wet as everywhere else and had a little firmness to the ground, Snowstorm turned around and faced Cedarpaw, Crouching into a defensive stance, ready to move in case he gets pounced on.
"Alright, Come on, make it interesting."

Cedarpaw snorted once and rolled his eyes. Picking on the leader? He'd much rather keep his ears, but thanks for the consideration. He followed the white apprentice, trotting a bit to keep up. It didn't take long before they were finally at a fairly firm spot to practice. He shook out his fur a bit.
"Why are we practicing here? Why not on more wet ground so that we can get used to it?" he asked, looking at his mentor's stance. Still, he began to circle Snowstorm, placing his paws carefully onto the ground. His green eyes were narrowed as he watched Snowstorm carefully. It was clear his mentor was letting him make the first move.
So he turned sharply and ran at Snowstorm. Once he was up close, he reached out to smack Snowstorm across the face with his paw pads.

Snowstorm waited until his apprentice rushed him before saying anything. as Cedarpaw circled around him, Snowstorm's eyes were trained not Cedarpaw's eyes, but on his feet. Snowstorm learned from his days as a kit that watching the feet and chest of an opponent can teach you more about what they're going to do than what they're eyes can tell you, so don't bother with eye contact unless you're talking to them. Of course their were a few other gems of wisdom thrown into that little spiel of Thyme's, but Snowstorm wasn't focused on that right now, So when Cedarpaw's feet suddenly changed direction, Snowstorm's eyes moved to his chest. The Apprentice rushed forward, reaching out with both paws to strike at Snowstorm's face. Snowstorm waited until Cedar paw was already moving his paws to strike before kicking his hind legs out and rolling to the side, before turning and swinging for Cedarpaw's flank with a sheathed paw.
"I'm going to teach you to fight everywhere I can, the best advantage......... -Insert grunt from paw thrust here- ....is the one no one expects you to have."
Snowstorm backed up slowly after swinging for his apprentice's flank.
"And since Cedarclan isn't a Marsh, if we ever wind up fighting over there, iI'd enjoy it if you'd come home in one piece. Every advantage you can get, no matter how small can change the tide of a fight."

Cedarpaw grunted a bit as Snowstorm dodged his attack. His green eyes followed Snowstorm's swift body and he suddenly felt his flank being smacked. He hopped backwards, teeth bared in a mock aggression. He lashed back and forth as she looked at his mentor, searching for any openings that his eyes could give. Nothing. So maybe his body? He had noticed that Snowstorm was looking at him, but not his face. Maybe that was the key....
He lunged forward again and used one of his paws to strike at Snowstorm's chest. At the same time, he reached his other paw to hook around one of the white tom's front legs. He hoped he could at least knock Snowstorm off of his balance and into the ground. He hoped that it would at least be something that he could use to his advantage during this training session.
"Those Cedarclan cats are weak. You were there when that one died, weren't you? We don't have to worry about them," he snorted.

Snowstorm watched his apprentice rush at him, swinging the same paw again, Snowstorm prepared to roll, but as he did his leg caught the other paw Cedarpaw threw. Snowstorm's eyes were focused on the chest, but he reacted too quickly. Problem number one. Problem number two was he hit the ground pretty hard without rolling. As he did he recovered and turned to face Cedarpaw.
"I was there, yes. But they were pretty formidable, well....."
Snowstorm's eyes narrowed as he thought back to the fight for a moment. he fought with Shadowfrost, whom he found out was their deputy. and Snowstorm had to admit, the cat had a bit of an anger streak.
"Well, i don't fight like my brother. I'm always about using whatever I can to get an advantage. The only reason I had the upper hand in that fight was I kept a cool head and always watched what he was doing. Funny enough, I blinded him with my own blood."
Snowstorm rushed forward and crouched to leap onto Cedarpaw, but instead of pouncing, he leaned forward and swiped with both his paws one after another at Cedarpaw's chest.

Cedarpaw was amused now. He would have to remember that tactic for future battles. He never would have thought about using his own blood against his opponents and it made him wonder who taught that to his mentor. He'd have to ask later, though, as he was still in the middle of battle training.
Battle training!
His mind came rushing back to what was going on now. He flinched back as he waited for his mentor to land on him, but something else happened. Snowstorm's paws whack hard against his chest. He took a few steps back and blinked. "Duskblaze doesn't have a cool head in battle? That really shouldn't surprise me, he doesn't really have one outside of battle either."
He circled his mentor again before leaping. He landed right in front of Snowstorm and tried to headbutt his mentor's muzzle and nose. Cedarpaw had a hard head, literally and metaphorically.

Snowstorm smiled slightly as his apprentice finally started to get into the swing of things, though he was not expecting the headbutt to the nose. And the stars he had seen from the impact made his nose water and his eyes squeeze shut. He shook his head before finally opening his eyes. Snowstorm caught his breath as his Apprentice was already air born and coming down on top of him. Snowstorm couldn't react fast enough and Cederpaw came crashing down on..
"YEOOOOOOOWWWW"
Cederpaw crashed down hard on Snowstorms tail and it hurt. Snowstorm thought his nose hurt but now his tail was screaming in agony, Snowstorm jerked forward yanking his tail out from under his apprentice knocking him over as he did so. Snowstorm rounded on his apprentice and launched at him Landing just in front and swinging both of his paws down aiming for his apprentices stomach. Snowstorm wasn't attacking out of anger, But the tail stomping did maybe make him want to swing his paws just a tiny bit harder....

Cedarpaw's ears perked up with happiness as he caught Snowstorm off guard. His head hurt a bit from the impact, but whatever worked, right? He just might have a headache later on in the day, which he could definitely deal with it. Of course, he was so busy thinking about this and being proud he actually got a hit in, that he hadn't seen Snowstorm's paws coming.
He let out a hiss of pain as the deputy's paws slammed into his stomach. He fell over and rolled away, trying to catch his breath and to get away. He looked up at the white tom with hard eyes, scrunching up his face, annoyed. He growled a bit once he was able to breathe again.
"What was that for? That really hurt! I'm going to have really dark bruises," he asked, tail lashing back and forth. His stomach was really sore now, as well as his head.

Snowstorms eyes looked over at where his paws struck his apprentice, the bruises weren't going to be nearly as bad as Cedarpaw whined about, or at least not compared to what Cedarclan cats would do. Though Snowstorm wasn't usually one to lose his composure, when he did, it was usually a reason to run. This was not one of those times. While Snowstorm didn't lose his composure, he wasn't usually very empathetic either, if it didn't directly affect him or anyone he cared about, he could care less. A quality that wasn't very befitting of a deputy, but he was working on it.
Regardless.
Snowstorm's eyes met his apprentice and his voice was as flat as ever, you might even say he was annoyed.
"Cedarpaw, If you're complaining about me getting a little rough with you, you don't have any idea what those Cedarclan cats will do to you. They won't stop for bruising, they won't stop until they have our pelts lining their dens at night in Leaf Bare. They don't care if it hurts, They don't care if you're a good cat. They see you as an enemy, and will do everything they can to win in a fight. Moreover, I am the Deputy of Marshclan, I'm not going to baby you. I'm going to train you to be tough, so the hits are just going to get harder, eventually anything a Cedarclan cat can do to you will feel like playing with the kits in our nursery."

Cedarpaw snorted at what his mentor said. He got back to his paws and shook out his fur. Gee, what a badger heart. Show some sympathy at least. This was their first real time training together. He hadn't been sure what to expect. But he definitely hadn't been expect someone who didn't seem like they cared.
"Cedarclan is filled with kits and elders. Not much they can do against us anyways," he grumbled to himself, looking over at Snowstorm. "Plus, they want peace anyways. They don't want to fight with us. If they did, they would have attacked us right after Steampaw had killed that pathetic cat of theirs. Peace. They should know that its impossible to get peace in the world. A bunch of mouse-brains is what they are. Plus, Duskblaze keeps saying he's pretty sure half of them are mad. Haven't you seen that Crooked-eye cat? Or that she-cat with the one eye? Rookshadow is her name. Even that tom called Boltfang. Those are the names he's mentioned. He said most of the cats over there probably are as useless in battles as the kits."

Snowstorm listened to Cedarpaw with curiosity. Duskblaze said a lot of things about those cats. Duskblaze also doesn't like to admit that most of those cats were at one time his family. Snowstorm couldn't ignore that like his brother could. He couldn't change his past, he's not sure he'd want too. The only thing he wished he could change would be the year he didn't spend with his brother, maybe he wouldn't have wound up so miserable, Just maybe.Snowstorm's eyes softened slightly as the thoughts flooded his mind. Something he wasn't usually known to do. It was rather, odd. After a moment of Silence he looked up at Cedarpaw and sighed.
"Duskblaze isn't your mentor, and even if he is clan leader, he's depressed and his judgement is clouded because his mate isn't part of this world anymore. Duskblaze can say whatever he wants, but it all comes from anger, not sound judgement. Regardless of what he believes, I've seen some of those cats do things that would impress Starclan." Snowstorm's whiskers twitched as he spoke, he was speaking highly of Cedarclan, wow... "You can't trust anyone's judgement until you experience it first hand." Snowstorm looked at where he struck his apprentice and his eyes softened a little more. "I did hit you kinda hard didn't I... I'm sorry, Just a knee jerk reaction to... Having my tail stepped on..."

Cedarpaw snorted once. He shook his head and then grew curious. He looked up at Snowstorm with bright, curious eyes. "What have you seen? Surely none of them have done anyting too impressive. They looked like rats dragged them around the forest for the past three moons."
Stories were a good way to pass time. Plus, he'd like to know what he was going up against. It would be useful information. Who to avoid when the time came down to it. Surely not those two black and white cats. Or the she-cat with the missing eye. They all looked much too weak to be anything impressive. Too worn out. As if the world was never on their side.
But then again, with the history of the clans, maybe it wasn't. Maybe the world was never on anybody's side. After all, he knew Steampaw was always coming back with new wounds and he was becoming even more nervous and quiet than usual. And Duskblaze had been through a lot since the clan had started. And with the sickness, it doesn't look like many of them would make it.
So far, the world had been kind to Cedarpaw. Nothing has really happened to him and he didn't plan on anything significant happening. But when did anybody plan for injuries, sickness, or death? Maybe the information that he could get from Snowstorm would be able to help him avoid most of the injuries. But then again. Maybe not.

Snowstorm's ears twitched as his apprentice took the bait. He tilted his head back and let his mind wander. To the memories of his kithood, and to his time as a Duskclan apprentice, for the short time it was. Snowstorm had learned and watched many things. His memory settled on the tom Boltfang. The on story he heard quite some time ago that inspired his life as a warrior. The cat who out ran death.
"Well, for starters, I know that Tom Boltfang died already. And yet, he's still walking among the living, He outran death itself." Snowstorm's eyes narrowed at the phrase. Snowstorm was a cat who loved everything about moving as fast as he could, maybe he could out run death too. "From my understanding He's capable of doing anything he sets his mind too. Even if that means killing you because you're in his way. Then you have that cat Shadowfrost, he was once a leader of a Clan known as Dawnclan, They were strong and proud. But most of all they were Violent, and good at being violent. Then you have Rookshadow. I don't know her personally, But you don't loose and eye and live to be her age without knowing a little more than you'd expect her too...." Snowstorm paused and blinked.
"Honestly Cedarpaw, The fact that we're all still here after the war with the dark forest is pretty impressive. They tried to kill us all, The few cats that walked away earned the right to some respect."
