When you get to the end of your rope, Tie a knot and hang on.
It was a beautiful night in Cedarclan's camp. chirping crickets, deep golden trees, a gently rustling wind and the sound of clan-life all around. Each day this place felt more and more like home. Each day Cedarclan moved in the right direction. Each day was one day closer to regaining what they had lost. And hope soared in Starlingfur's heart as she moved through camp, leaping to the High Branch and squirreling her way up to the midpoint.
"Let all cats old enough to heed my words gather here beneath the High Branch for a Clan meeting!" she called, copper eyes glittering.
Below, warriors and queens alike moved into action. Apprentices and kits, rogues and youths all moved to take their place beneath the branch. What could the meeting be about, some murmured? Anticipation rippled through the crowd, and Starlingfur found herself with a benevolent smile. Her clanmates. Her warriors. Now that things were settling and life was becoming calm once more, Starlingfur had begun to grow more secure in her position. She was proud of how far they'd come. And she would say as much
"Warriors of Cedarclan... Though the past seasons have been difficult for all, over only the last moon and a half we've seen so much progress. We have a home. A territory. We have comrades, and we have a clan. Leaf-Fall is well in progress however, and just because things aren't as difficult as they have been in the past does not mean that we should slack. There is much to be done if we are to prepare for the coming Leaf-Bare." voice serious, eyes hard. Those who were old enough to have experienced Leaf-Bare in the mountains would remember. Temperatures so cold a cat's whiskers would break off. Prey so little they had to resort to traveling herbs just to stay alive. And they had no medicine cat. No herbs. There were a great many things to be worried about. And yet...
"I'm proud of how far we've come. And I'm certain that Starclan are as well." despite their silence. "No matter what is to come, we must stay vigilant. But it is still important to acknowledge our successes." brown ears twitched, a tail waving towards the nursery. "Our numbers have grown. I'm certain that you've all met the kits. But I would like to give a formal statement on bringing them into the clan. To Featherpaw's sons, Quiverkit and Quailkit, along with my sons Shrikekit and Hawkkit and my daughters Flickerkit and Ternkit." She smiled now, eyes strong and warm. "Fernheart is expecting. And with newborn kits already here, the second generation of Cedarclan is well on its way. Strong, healthy, clanborn kits. The future of our home. Warriors. Deputies. Medicine Cats. Leaders. We must fight for them. For a better future for these kits, and all that are to come. And," she turned now, seeking out three cats in the crowd in particular, "Any loners that would wish to join us. Raven, Dots, and Ika. Please step forward."
She'd been keeping an eye on these three since they'd arrived. A sweetly she-cat- Boltfang's sister oddly enough. An energetic and kindly tom, who tried a bit too hard to help out around camp. And another warrior aged tom, silver-tongued and eager to please. She'd looked for their strengths and weaknesses. Their skill levels. And eventually, she'd come to a decision.
[paragraph will be here once there's a thread with raven and starling??? she'll probably be meddie though or something like that, so just act like thats here lmao]
Starlingfur looked to Dots, now. The young tom's green eyes were big as moons, joy plain as day on his face. He reminded her of an apprentice earning his warrior name. True enthuseasm. "Dots. You have shown such an an eagerness to learn in your short time here that would make Starclan proud. From this moment on, you will be known as Specklefoot. Starclan honors your agility and kindness, and we welcome you as a full warrior of Cedarclan." The tom's face lit up with happiness- such a volume of which Starlingfur was unsure she had ever seen.
And finally, Ika. He'd come to the clans sooner than both Raven and Dots. But despite being older than the first tom, had outright admitted that he lacked the experience to be a warrior. And after observing for a time, Starlingfur couldn't help but agree. Still, he was eager to learn. And Crooked-eye was more than eager to help him. He'd even suggested a name. "Ika. Though you are warrior-aged, you express the desire learn before taking on that mantle. Your wishes will be honored. From this day until the day you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Sandpaw. Your mentor will be Crooked-Eye. I hope that he will pass down all he knows on to you." The tabby nodded in Crooked-Eye's direction, eyes serious. Sandpaw had joined the clan on Crooked-Eye's recommendation. Starlingfur hoped that he would train him well.
"I welcome you all to Cedarclan. May you find the brightest of futures here."
"Things will grow more difficult in the coming moons" the ending began, copper eyes gleaming out over the crowd. "But I believe in us. We've made it this far, and we are strong. We are Cedarclan. We will survive Leaf-Fall, and we will survive the Leaf-Bare when it comes. The clans have been reborn. And this time, nothing will tear them apart. Meeting adjourned.".
