It had been quiet. For moons spirits were trapped in a dark dimension confused, cold, wandering aimlessly looking for some kind of light. They had tried to run away from the darkness, but they were trapped in it. Not any longer.. Flashes of light cascaded across the sky, and soon one by one balls of energy turned into figures. Heads turned and looked around them before quickly sprinting forward. The entire sky was lit tonight, for once a feeling of peace fell over the forest, and tonight there were hundreds of more stars than there were before. Shootingstars fell across the forest letting any who still had faith that StarClan had come home. There were cheers and sobs, as loved ones reunited. Those who had fought the war of darkness had finally made it home. Many ran forward touching noses to their loved ones, but some stood alone as their loved ones still continued to fight the bloodshed war down in the forest. The dark forest may have caught the starry cats off guard but they would come back....the clans would come back. StarClan would not let them win this fight, the Starry cats would continue to try and have faith. IT took them a lot of energy to bring these cats lost in the middle home, but they had done it.The StarClan cats that had once started to fade were now whole again.
A clan that was almost on the brink of extinction was now back. There were few who were excited to see their loved ones again, but there were a few who knew there were other things that were more concerning, and those few sat around a small pool of water looking down at the remainders of the forest. Slowly they watched as the forest once heavy with sins, become light and whole again. The dense fog that clouded the area, lifted. The pain and sorrow of the hallowed grounds, lifted, the spirits were no longer trapped and could continue their lives under the protection of the starry ancestors. It was a peaceful sight, but the war was far from over. Over the moons, nearly all the cats and warriors had lost their way, lost their faith. Many had gone rogue, many killed without hesitation, many fought to destroy spirits of others, this did not make them evil, and StarClan saw that, they were cats who had just lost their way and they simply needed to be guided home. A task however, that was much easier said than done.
"How can we tell the forest we are back when the one medicine cat we have access to went to fight on the side that tried to destroy us?" A brown she-cat with a white chest mewed. Her sea green eyes stared hauntingly at the pool as she watched her daughter wander around with her three kits. Pinestar felt a tail brush her shoulder and her eyes fell on Cherrystar. Despite all the happenings the one cat they could still communicate with had lost his way many moons prior to the war when everything began to turn dark. "Despite all this my daughter has stayed true, she closes her eyes calling out to Gullwing her mate in hopes of him coming to her, she still teaches her little ones about us, its because of these cats that still believe that we are even still a around we can connect to her, she will pass on the message for sure." The deceased BirchClan leader smiled as her eyes stared at her daughter. She had grown so much, been through so much.... she just wanted to reach out to her and tell her everything would be okay...everything WOULD be okay she just knew it.
"Pinestar you know we can't do that. She does not have the nine lives of StarClan nor is she a medicine cat we can only connect to those cats right now. Have faith " It was a Siamese she-cat who spoke, her blue eyes staring into hers. BreezeClans founding leader looked at the pool as well, the only cat she would be able to connect to is FireCloud but she had passed the torch of leadership off to Mottledfrost who was out of StarClan's reach.
"She doesn't have the nine lives of starclan....YET." Pinestar retorted. She was biased perhaps, she knew there was kin of other leaders in the forest but she couldn't help but feel her daughter had a very bright future ahead of her. SHe would rangle these cats and then Pinestar would be able to go tell Moonstar 'I told you so'
"We only have enough power to send one cat down to the forest and not for long. Who's going to have the most influence on this bid brain so we can get the cats were the belong." It was a large black tom with a small white patch on his chest who spoke. Blackstar looked at the cats standing around the pool. However it wasn't long until a beautiful calico she-cat stepped forward. She was of no importance per se, not a medicine cat, not a leader, not a deputy, but she was a mother, and a mothers bond with their kit never broke even in death.
"I can bring him back....Im his mother." Her gray eyes scanned the clearing. There were some murmurs of distraught, but it wasn't long before they agreed and stepped forward pressing their noses to Splashfurs forehead. It wasn't long before her paws hit the forest floor. She was home. She took a deep breath and saw her sleeping son. Her heart reached out to him, the darkness that surrounded him was incredibly strong. She wanted to cry, and just wrap her tail around him and pull him close like she did when he was a kit, to sleep next to him. However she stood strong, letting out a soft mew to wake the tom. She wasn't strong enough to travel his dreams so this would have to do.
She watched the tom stir and wake, her eyes fell on her only living kit, his eye fell on her. They had a stare down for a moment before the queen watched her sons jaw quiver ever so slightly. She gave a curteous nod. "Shhh eveningblaze its okay my son...it's okay everything will be okay." Her son took a few pawsteps forward as if he were uncertain it was real. Her soothing tail touch to his shoulder was enough to justify that this was indeed real. Her eyes softened and she padded forward, her nose brushing his cheek. "Eveningblaze you have lost your way my son....you need to come back....I know love I know you've lost so much.....loved ones, family, your clan....but you need to come back to us....do not lose your faith...."
Something seemed to click in the black toms heart, Splashfur could feel a sense of relief. She could no longer feel the dark forest around. He had let go....he had released their grasp and Splashfur struggled not to cry out but this was not the time to do so. "we are here Eveningblaze but you must believe....your father, your siblings, your kits......Cherryfoot....Sunpaw we are HERE." She knew that he may not hold on to what she pulled him out from so she would do everything she possibly could to keep him connected to the starry cats one more.
"It is time Eveningblaze....it is time to go home...in four days the moon will be painted red...." Splashfur closed her eyes stepping forward pressing her nose to his forehead to pass this vision on to her son. It was incredibly cold and chilling as the moon was blood red. "It is the Blood moon, StarClan is silent no more, that is us saying we are back and strong, but we can only be as strong as the faith the forest has, if you want the darkness to go away we need cats to believe in us again....Eveningblaze HAVE FAITH!!!" The stern voice of his mother seemed to click however she was losing the energy to stay here. Soon her body began to fade.
"I love you Eveningblaze do not forget that." She smiled softly at her son, her tail brushing against his flank. Splashfur could only hope that somehow she had cleared his mind of the darkness and StarClan would be able to communicate with him openly. Send him signs, send him dreams, send him something. With that, Splashfur started to walk away as she knew she had to, however the she-cat turned around and looked at her son with a sparkle in her eye.
"Those who lost their lives in the battle have finally come home......StarClan is back Eveningblaze." and with her final words, splashfur was gone and the forest was quiet.
