The beautiful golden she-cat was laying on her side. The over hang that protected her was hardly enough coverage, all eyes would and still will be on her. She lay on her side clearly in pain. Her golden eyes opened and closed taking in her surroundings, this was it...these kits would grow up without a father. Her heart felt like it was ripped from her chest as she thought back to Gullwing. All their struggles for him to become a warrior, all their struggles to make him understand, Honeyheart fought for him...and then he fought for her and died. She winced slightly as she could feel the contractions she yowled attracting the attention of Scorpion, her friend was instantly at her side. She could feel her tail stroking her side, one push and the she-cat cried out, a second push, and the she-cat dug her claws into the dirt. A few moments passed and a third and fourth push, still no kitten. Honeyheart felt the struggle and just wanted this to be over. With a fifth push there was a kitten born, she saw Scorpion immediately pick the kit up and began to clean it, she watched clearly exhausted/ "is....he...she...okay?"
Scorpion rasped the kit tail to head warming the kitten up, he was mostly white with some ginger. Scorpion smiled before placing the kitten near Honeyhearts belly. "Yes he's fine." The kitten did seem to yowl and screech more than Scorpion had wanted. It was like the kitten couldn't hear himself. She blinked ever so slightly as she watched Honeyheart lift her head to interact with her first new born son. Scorpion puffed out her chest proud that despite everything they had gone through this life was absolutely amazing.
Honeyheart looked at her first born son, he looked exactly like her father. She whimpered slightly just thinking about it. Her father...the tom who raised him and his sister gone...her friends gone, her mate gone. She didn't want to think about it. Soon her energy seemed to be slipping. The pain was overwhelming but as much as she wanted to, she didn't slip under. After a few hours three kits were born. All three suckling, all three, at least to Honeyheart looked healthy. Certainly Hocus would want to look them over. It was safe for them right now, but soon Leaf-Bare would come around and Honeyheart would need an actual den. Perhaps when she had energy she would be able to lead them to BirchClan's old camp.
"Hey everyone! Honeyhearts kits have been born!" Scorpion mewed.

Lion hissed. He had been sleeping, and Scorpion had yowled, awakening him. He stood up, figuring he might as well get to work. He padded into the main camp, leaving his nest behind. He wished he could sleep with the rest of the Clan. He was treated like a prisoner, not a Clanmate. Lion looked at Honeyheart, the queen. He saw three little things beside her. "Are those… kits? Honeyheart's kits?" He looked at them all. One seemed to not really know where he was. It was like he could not see, or not hear. "Is he.. deaf? Are the other kits okay?" He had just been in the Clan a few days, but, despite him working his tail off helping them all, Scorpion still did not trust him. It must have been because of his actions when they had first met. "How is Honeyheart doing? Is she going to be all right?"

Scorpion looked up at Lion he was showing concern for Honeyheart? She narrowed her eyes slightly before taking a mossball and cleaning the queen up. Honeyheart was out like a light sleeping peacefully with her tail wrapped around her three kits. She knew Honeyheart would have names picked out for them all. She sighed when Lion mentioned one of them being deaf. "Yes I think the point and white and ginger one are both deaf. However the gray and white tabby is okay. She's very responsive to her mother. However they were just born so only time will tell really. I've seen...deaf cats become great cats. Her mate was deaf you know and that pointed one looks just like him. He died protecting her from murderers...trying to get to their camp. A brave tom he was." Scorpion mewed. She blinked she could somewhat relate to the queen she lost her parents and siblings. "She lost her sister and best friend too all in the same day. I can't even imagine what its like to have nothing...I'm glad I was the one who found her." Scorpion mewed to Lion. She watched him carefully smiling. "You can go ahead and meet them Lion...after I'd like for you to come with me please." She mewed.
(I'll make another thread for them.)

Hocus had remained near the pregnant queen for most of the time she had spent with Scorpion and her group. She had little interest in becoming close with the large black she-cat, or the gray kit that was inexplicably running with them - an orphan? - or the ginger tom that was frankly rather horrifying. What she did care about was keeping her deal with Scorpion. So she stayed by the cat Honeyheart, keeping her healthy and distracting her from her grief. The she-cat had recently lost her mate and loved ones, it would seem. Such a shame. Getting close to cats only ever brought pain. That was the lesson Hocus had taken from the death of her father. Perhaps Honeyheart would learn the same thing from the death of her friends... but it didn't seem likely. She seemed all too willing to latch on to the cats that followed Scorpion. She was stupid that way.
The pretty tabby she-cat, naturally, didn't let any of this show on her face. She maintained the carefully calm expression she always did. As Honeyheart began to give birth, she kept her voice low, giving commands and administering the proper herbs with small, contained movements. She rubbed the queen's stomach with one paw, not glancing up as Scorpion came in at the sound of her yowl. The black she-cat grabbed a kit and started licking it. Good. Hocus didn't have to tell her to do it herself. The birthing was long and laborious; Honeyheart sounded like she was in pain, but she couldn't take poppy seeds for it now. She needed to stay awake for this. Finally, after hours of work, all the kittens had been born. To Hocus, at least two seemed to be deaf. But she would have to look more closely later. For now, Scorpion was calling in the rest of the group. Hocus flicked her tail and started nosing the kittens, making sure they were suckling well enough. Good. She nudged borage leaves to Honeyheart's nose, along with poppy seeds. Now she could afford to let her sleep without pain.
Hocus glanced up as Lion entered the den. She didn't like the big tom. He reminded her of the gang she had grown up around. But she wasn't about to go against Scorpion. Especially not so soon after joining the group. She didn't yet have a sense of which of them were more important to Scorpion, or if she had enough value to the black she-cat to leverage against the big tom. For now, she ignored his presence, focusing on the queen and newborns.

Falcon had spent the day, as most days, training. It was hard work, but she relished in it. Finally, she was getting the training she had longed for. It made her feel better about leaving her family; at least she was getting what she'd asked for. She could feel herself improving -- it was incredible. Scorpion was the best mentor she could have asked for. The training regimen was demanding, and she did little but train, but it was going to pay off. It was paying off already; she was already a better fighter than she was when she joined up with Scorpion.
Speaking of the black she-cat... the gray kit pricked up her ears as she heard her leader yowl about Honeyheart's kits. Huh. Falcon wasn't terribly interested in kits, but she might as well go see. She had finished her exercises, anyway. She'd planned on eating and then waiting for Scorpion to give her something else to do, so it wasn't like she was missing anything. She padded over towards the nursery, lowering her ears and ducking around to the other side of Scorpion than Lion. Lion wasn't like Scorpion; he was no doubt a good fighter, but he scared Falcon. He wasn't someone she wanted to fight... not yet, at least. While Scorpion was willing to mentor her, it seemed to Scorpion that Lion wouldn't see a problem with killing her.
Falcon pricked her ears back up as she looked at the kits. They were little and very loud. Was that what she had been when she was young? The young she-cat crinkled her nose. Had she really been that annoying? Wow. She gave Hocus and Honeyheart a quick nod, then fled to the other side of camp. She knew kits were important to the future of the group, but she would rather deal with them when they got a little bigger and could train with her.
