OOC Rules - No impersonation. This can result in an instaban. It is very disrespectful, and even when done in good fun it can be confusing. Unless you are given permission by another person to act like them, just don't do it. And if you impersonate a staff member and tell someone that something is okay (or answer a staff question) when it isn't, you will receive a permanent ban. - Keep the fighting IC. If you have an issue with another member, try to settle things peacefully. If things can't be, either come to a staff member or take it up with the other person within the confines of a pm. Arguing with someone in the chat is cluttering, and it can make other members who aren't involved uncomfortable. - No spamming/flooding. Spamming is when you send the irrelevant or inappropriate messages, either in the c-box, on the forum, or through PM. Flooding is when you send the same message over and over and over and over again. This gets annoying and clutters the c-box and forum. Neither of these are acceptable, as they are annoying. - Absolutely no harassment. This is rude and very mean. Not only that, but it is very serious. Many of us roleplay to relax and relieve stress. If someone is harassing a person though, its hard for them to do that. This is a family site where we want everyone to be close. If someone is harassing you, contact Staff immediately. We will hear both sides of the story and give the proper punishment. - NO discrimination. Period. Homophobia, Transphobia, Racism, Sexism, or anything relating to those will result in a permanent IP ban. Those things are taken very seriously and WILL NOT be tolerated.Bio Rules - All characters must have Bios. Before roleplaying, you must create a bio for your character. You have to create a bio, no exceptions. We would prefer it if you used our bio template, but it is not required as long as all of the neccesary information is still included. You cannot roleplay your character until they are accepted by a staff member and moved to the proper board. Once they are, go right ahead. - 100/150/250 Rule On FS, we follow a 100/150/250 rule when it comes to bios. That is, your character must have at least 100 words in their appearance section, 150 words in their personality section, and 250 words in their history section. It is strongly encouraged to have more, but this is the bare minimum. - No pregnant characters and no kits. You may not create expecting or nursing characters. Unless specific staff permission has been given, this is not allowed. Characters may become pregnant and have kits through roleplay, but already pregnant characters may not join the clans unless otherwise stated. You may also not make characters who are kits without clear staff permission in advance, or they are adopted. - Characters must be realistic. They must have fur colors, eye colors, and sizes that are realistic unless an oddity has been bought from the shop. - Clan names must be at least semi-traditional. We go by a naming system where the first part of a cat's name, given at birth or upon clan joining, denotes appearance, while the second half denotes skills or personalities. This allows characters to get a good idea of what your character might look and act like, or be good at, before seeing them. If you have questions on this, feel free to ask a staff member, or consult the clan names page! Exceptions are made for characters with name changes. - Characters must join clans ic. When you create a character, they are not born into a clan, nor could they have ever previously been in one. They must join one in character. - Character Limit. There is a character limit of 15 characters per member. This is to keep numbers from rising too high and things from getting out of hand. If you wish to make characters beyond this limit, you must buy a character slot from the site shop.Adoption Rules - Waiting Period You must be a member for at least two weeks and have a minimum of 20 ic posts before you may adopt a character from the adoption board. This is to prevent someone joining for a week, adopting 12 characters, and then leaving. - Adoption is up to the OP. The original poster of an adoption thread has the right to accept or deny the adoption of a character. This can be due to a number of reasons, but ultimately whether the OP allows someone to adopt a character that they are putting up for adoption is up to them.IC Rules - No Powerplaying. Powerplaying is when you take control of someone else's character. Doing this in roleplay is cheating. An example of this would be:Brownfur tackled Graytail to the ground and bit into his shoulder, drawing blood. Instead of doing that, say this instead: Brownfur leaped at Graytail, attempting to tackle him to the ground. If succeeded, he would try to bite into his shoulder. You can powerplay IF you ask the other RPer and tell them what you wish to powerplay. If you do any more than what you said you would do, it will be cheating and you will have to take it out of your post. The only time you are allowed to powerplay without permission is with new born kits(Aka, picking them up), to move the injured, or save the elderly and kits. - No Godmoding. Godmoding is when your character never gets hurt or sick or dodges every attack in a battle. This is impossible, as everyone gets sick or hurt sometime or another. Its impossible to be in a battle and not get any injuries. Also, know that if your character does get sick or hurt, he/she will not be able to just jump right back on up as if nothing happened. It will take time to be healed. - Killing. You cannot kill another roleplayer's character without their permission. - No Chatspeak. It's very annoying. We don't want a bunch of characters running around screaming 'lol', 'rofl', 'bbl', etc. Cats don't know what those things mean, and it looks bad. - Closed Threads. Closed thread is a thread that is between certain members only. If you're not one of those members, do not join it. You may however join a closed thread if you get permission from all members involved. - Posting Order. Do not post out of order in a thread, unless it is a thread with no posting order. - Liquid time. We do allow for liquid time here. Your character may be involved in multiple threads at once at multiple times, just be sure to keep track of their timeline.Other Rules - Signing up.We are a one-account per person site. This means that you have one, and only one, account with all your characters on it. Once you've signed up, we ask that you make a character within a week of joining. If you do not, then we will delete your account and you have to rejoin. ~The one exception to this rule is if you've stated you will be away for a while(in the Absence board). - Minimum Word Limit. We have a minimum word limit of 150. This is to prevent one-liners and to make it so that people have enough to respond to. However, this should NOT be followed as a guide whatsoever. Please strive for higher numbers- 500 words or higher is very much encouraged. Longer posts have the bonus of more freshkill, along with more in depth threads! - High Rank Posting. High ranks must post at least once every week. This includes leaders, deputies, and medicine cats. If they do not, their roleplayer will receive a warning. We will be keeping an eye on this. - Required Apprentice Threads. All apprentices hoping to be warriors must have completed at least 3 training threads before becoming warriors. One hunting, one fighting, one clan culture/territory thread. They must also have a final assessment. Cedarclan apprentices are also required to have at least one prey-skinning training thread. Keep track of your apprentice threads in the Thread Check board. If an apprentice does not complete their three threads, they will not become a warrior until they do. Simple as that. Medicine cat apprentices must also have a minimum of four training or healing threads as opposed to the three of normal apprentices. - Mate Threads. To become mates, the two characters must have been in at least 4 threads together. This is to allow the romance to develop. You can keep track of these threads in the Thread Check board. In addition to the 4 threads, if they are to have kits the two cats must be in 2 more threads together, totaling at 7 threads for a full relationship and kits. The pregnant character must also be roleplayed at least once during the pregnancy, not counting the kitting thread. - Kits. When having kits, you must tell us in the Expecting Queens thread in the Kit Center sub-board of the Adopt-A-Cat hub. There is a limit to how many litters may be born per month, keep this in mind. - The Passage of Time Time on Fallen Starlight passes at a rate determined by members and staff to be natural. There is no set timeframe at the moment. - Have fun! :) This is one of the most important rules! We want everyone here to be happy and having a good time. If you have any problems, questions, or concerns, feel more than free to come to a staff member about them. We are very open and friendly, as are our members. We strive to create a friendly, comfortable, and happy roleplaying environment on Fallen Starlight.
