Quiver and Quail are a set of identical twins. Truly, identical twins. Down to the very last stripe on their fur. For moons their beleaguered mother attempted to find some sort of distinction. Maybe one had an extra mark on his tail or a stripe zigzagged a bit further or had just the slightest lighter coloring on his nose. But no. They look exactly the same, much to their own amusement and the detriment of every other cat's sanity. That being said, the twins are built tall and tough. Thick, honed muscles ripple under smooth tabby fur and their limbs are long enough to catch any cat by surprise with the range of their swipe. While these powerful, thin cats may seem like the perfect running machines, both toms universally hate running with an undeniable passion. They will walk unless ordered to run under pain of extreme punishments. Even if a clanmate was in danger, it is unlikely these two would run to save them. A slow walk would do, surely. It is a supreme waste of natural talent in any cat's opinion but the twins could not seem to care less. Sometimes they walk with a light, cautious step, and sometimes with a heavyfooted arrogance. This would make the two easy to point out, but then they decide to switch and the other one will be arrogant and the first will be light. It is enough to make any cat want to pin them down and scar one of them just so they could tell them apart! (One cat actually tried this when they were apprentices, but the two toms went ballistic and fought him off, leaving the well-meaning Warrior with more scars than he bargained for and a permanent limp. No cat has tried since.)  personality
It is hard to pin down an exact personality for Quiver or Quail. Rather than being referred to as 'him' cats usually address the toms as 'they'. "They are very polite and sociable, except when they feel like being alone." "They are quite shy, except when they are loud and arrogant." It is impossible to say for sure which tom behaves which way. They both answer to each other's names. Sometimes Quiver is the shy one and sometimes it's Quail. Sometimes Quail is very thoughtful, but then he runs off to do something stupid. Sometimes Quiver is confident and outgoing, right up until he isn't anymore and frets to his friends over what to do next. Their mother, the queen in the nursery, their mentors, even their leader has, at one point or another, grown sick of their antics and demanded they stop, but they will not be deterred. Besides, what can you do, really? If you decide to always call the quiet one Quail, but then if the one you named Quiver is just having a bad day, you would get them completely wrong and never notice something was going on because you had already preassigned names. Besides, what if you ended up with it backwards? And Quail was Quail? -er, I mean Quail was Quiver. And Quiver was Quail. But, then again... It is a nightmare. To avoid this, most cats just ask the twins who they are today. Just trust them. It's much easier for your sanity this way.
HISTORY Born to Featherpaw in Cedar Clan, Quiver is an identical twin to his brother, Quail. While some may say 'don't read a book by it's cover' cats (and you) will be hard pressed to tell Quail from Quiver personality wise. While they will have their moments and personal quirks, it is impossible to tell whether the cat that just walked by is the quiet twin or the loud twin who just distracted. They will also mimic each other near flawlessly. At least, maybe they do? It is hard to tell. One second the cat in front of you, who you were sure as the sky is blue was Quail, is acting exactly as you expect, but then a moment later he completely changes tack and starts acting like the cat you pegged as Quiver! These toms are, and always have been, closer than close and have vowed never to let anyone pull them apart. Which makes a cat wonder. What exactly happened to make the twins commit to such a vow?
