Kei The world was so full of life in this place. The sun shone bright and the small creatures rose to worship under its light as surely as the infernal beasts of the night would soon rise to profane the weak under the cover of darkness. The tom was constantly amazed at the odd balance struck between good and evil in these lands. Where he came from, good was good and evil was evil. That did not seem to be so in this strange place. The cats of these lands viewed others as varying shades of grey, assuming they viewed each other at all. There was no structured society, no greater family structure. They lived. They died. Simple. Gray. Alone. Essentially, this place was strange and made Kei's fur itch. The small orange tabby looked up to the dark night sky at the curved moon. His people had a complicated view of moons. They praised the moon for her light, but the wench was a treacherous shecat, lending power evil and leading unwary travelers down false paths more often than not. They did not exactly curse her, but neither was she seen as a Force for Good, like brother sun and his children. Whispering quiet words of prayer for safe passage, the brown tom returned his luminescent green eyes back to the forest floor. He considered leaving this land, as he had for several days since he arrived. There seemed to be no greater society that needed his aid. No tyrant or slave lord to overthrow. No families in distress that needed saving. No unholy demons to slay, at least outside of the stray dog. After loitering for several days, regaining strength and fat for the harsh trip back through the mountains, the tom decided he should probably just- What was that? Kei snorted as he picked up on another cat's scent. Several cats actually. Now this was different. He had yet to run into any sembalance of civilization in this odd place. Perhaps he had been wrong to dismiss it so quickly? Small glowing green eyes flicked up to the claw moon with wary suspicion. What path would you have me follow now, Fickle Sister? he wondered. Slowly, curiously but cautiously, the small tabby began to follow his nose.

Nighttime. Snowstorm loved the night. his Blue eyes shone brightly in the midst of the trees he ran under. Snowstorm loved to run, he loved to always be moving. He hated staying in one spot for to long and dreaded being told to do be safe about what he was doing. These three things never should be put together, a fast moving object in the darkness of night just outside of group of cats, most of whom were probably settled down for the night. yet tonight was Snowstorm's lucky night, cause her he comes, out of the darkness, right into a brown, immovable object.
That's right, plunging head fist into the bottom of a, now slightly bent out of place bush, Snowstorm tumbled for a brief moment before coming to a rest shortly in front of another brownish orange object, this one, however had green eyes, and a not so amused stare. This would probably bother most cats, especially given the danger most of them encountered on their own. But Snowstorm was never one to question the danger involved in what he was doing. No he liked to take the stupid approach, he liked to ask danger a question.
"Oh.. Hey... How ya doin?"
Simple, elegant, probably a little confusing in how "Nope, didn't run into a tree a few moments ago" the words sounded, almost as if this was a normal thing for Snowstorm.

Kei The brown tom took a small step back, his face impassive as a tiny tom barreled into the spot he had been occupying just a moment before. His green eyes blinked slowly. How strange. Did all cats leave their recruit toms to roam freely? And did he have some sort of disability that made him perceive bushes as passable objects? Maybe he was night vision impaired? It was a rare issue that Kei had seen on his travels. The tom bowed his head slightly in greeting to the white male and offered him a warm smile. "Greetings, son. How do you fair? Surely your Kin would request your presence at this late hour? Where have they gathered? Do you not yearn for their call?" Kei asked, his voice calm and soothing. He had always done well with kits and young ones. For some reason he never understood, they seemed to find him in some way humorous, and he relished the company of the innocents. Granted this tom seemed to be much older, but if he was still running into bushes, Kei doubted he was entirely grown mentally. Indeed, sometimes it took many moons for cats to reach the Enlightenment required to advance their bodies and hearts in order to become Knights. Some were too soft-willed to ever achieve the feat. Perhaps this tom was one such cat.

Snowstorm tilted his head slightly to the side as the cat spoke. While the voice wasn't hostile, the words were confusing. Snowstorm understood them, Thyme, his former mentor spoke with a "Very Complex Vocabulary" as he put it. But that didn't make them any less confusing to a cat who hardly held together a simplistic understanding of communication. But another thing that confused him was the way in which he used these words, it was a very cleaned up way of speaking, something Snowstorm wasn't use too. Regardless, he realized the cat was asking him something and he forgot to answer, only letting a small moment of silence slip by he quickly bounded back to conversation, only a minor hesitation in his voice.
"Not got much in the way of family. I got a brother, but he's doing other things with the group. I'm pretty much wandering free for the night right now. Should probably watch where I'm going though..."
Snowstorm licked his chest real quick and then drug a paw over his ear.
"I run into things all the time though, eventually you just get use to the pain and it doesn't hurt as much. Kind of useful in fights for a pain tolerance."

Kei "Truly?" the tom asked, intrigued. Without further words or preamble, Kei got up and walked away. An orange streak whizzed past as the small brown tom slammed head first into a tree. He turned back to the white tom. A bit of blood trickled down his face from the sheer force of the impact. His green eyes blinked. "Yes, I could see how this could be an effective pain management exercise, but don't you ever worry about cranium injuries? Although, our own methods were hardly more civil. To each his own I suppose," Kei mewed offhandedly. He licked his paw and used it to wipe away a bit of blood. "I am Kei. What name may I call you, son?"

Snowstorm watched as Kei smacked right into the tree, if anything he flinched a minor amount at the impact but said nothing more as the blood trickled slowly down his face. He tilted his head to one side with a small smile crossing his face.
"My name is Snowstorm, but most call me Snow for short. I don't really have a preference."
Snowstorm tilted his head to the other side and then replied to the earlier question, almost like he was two cats in one body.
"I guess you should worry about head injuries, but if you keep your body limp when you make impact, it... hurts less, and you have less of a chance of getting hurt, because your not a solid shape. It's like tree branches in the wind, they bend, but they don't break right away, where as if they didn't bend, they'd break easier.... I don't really know how to explain it, my old master had a better way with words than i did. Maybe Dusk would explain it better, but I'm not one hundred Percent sure on where he is at the moment..."

Kei The tom nodded vaguely as he listened to Snow Storm with rapt attention. How interesting. How very interesting. He had never thought of himself as a tree branch but perhaps this cat, this 'Dusk' had reached a higher level of Enlightenment than he had. His old Masters had talked in such ways. Thinking themselves to be leaves or trees or mountains and whatnot. Kei mostly just thought he was a cat. Occasionally a demon, but that was another matter, he felt. "No, no," he clarified quickly when the tom seemed to stumble, "I completely understand. You explain it most eloquently. Your Master should be proud of your progress. Tell me now, Snow Storm what quest are you on this bewitching eve? What do you seek to gain by this journey's end? Might I aid you in exchange for the lesson?"

Snowstorm paused for a moment before speaking. on one paw, it would be nice to have someone to help him hunt for the clan. he figured it would be a nice surprise, not that he was ordered to do so, but it still felt like something the cats would enjoy. On the other paw, he wasn't sure how Dusk would feel about teaching another cat their special training. It was something they had to bond over, something that, at least to Snowstorm, Felt special in a way. But Thyme always said that knowledge was something to be passed on and shared for everyone. Snowstorm wished for a moment that he could see Thyme again. But he didn't see it happening, He didn't know what happened to him. Regardless, Snowstorm was here, and Kei had asked him a question.
"I Don't see why not, I'm hunting for my Clan. I wasn't ordered to do so, but it might be a nice surprise for everyone. You can tag along if you want."

Kei The orange tom nodded seriously and flicked his tail in silent salute. He silently and flawlessly stalked away into the woods, ignoring the marshy wetness of the ground with an iron will few could match. The marshes were positively teeming with life. Frogs, fish, gulls, ducks, snakes, mice, water voles, on and on the list went. A kit could hunt this evening and likely succeed. Greenleaf was at its peak and with the moon for light, prey practically leaped into a cat's waiting paws. An hour or so later, plenty of time for a large hoard of food to be accumulated, Kei returjed to where the two had set out to await his companion's return. He gave himself a quick wash as he waited, cleaning away a few splots of blood on his fur that hadn't been there previously. Beside him were the bodies of three baby alligators... And nothing else. Perhaps the tom had forgotten he was supposed to be hunting prey, not lethal predators. Or maybe he just really was that stupid. Honestly, it was hard to say sometimes.
